trying to make life easier

this logs the happy and painful process of learning about myself

hmm guess i was stupid.
to think she'd've helped.
n no i really dun wanna put that 'fuck u' thing anymore.
she doesnt owe me a shit.
after two continuous incidents,
ive realised noone owes me a shit,
especially her.
and yea.
it's ok u didnt help.
i survived.

rotten reality

rotten reality.

when u're all down n helpless
n wasted by noone's fault but ur own
ur frens think u deserve it.
except prob one -
poor ayda.
u were really great taking care of useless me
who got so pissed drunk.
in retrospect,
i suspect it's that last round we got.
and no,
i did not drink 13 shots.
cant remb who asked me in the face on the bench
and i smiled yes or something
and i dunno why i did that.

the wonderful ladies in the Ladies
who actually bothered.
it's like a sociology observation.
pple who know u dont really care.
how ironic.
u'd think they'll be the ones who do.
but hell no.
and it's really weird.
the kind souls who offered to send me home,
the kind souls who talked to the nonsensical ass,
thank you.

alright.
i didnt plan to get that pissed drunk.
-shakes head-
it was terrible.horrible.
so i cant blame anyone.
i'd prob be disgusted at how i behaved as well-
almost the same level of disgust i would show
the lil kids lying on the road to mm.
it was that pathetic.
i was a loser thru-and-thru
and i saw frens.
worse.

and hey you,
thanks for coming down in the middle of the night
and putting us up.
and the cab fare afterwards.
thanks for remembering, caring, and everything.
u were wonderful. =]
we all appreciate it.

rotten reality.
rotten, rotten reality.

another test

another one off baa's.

2
PASSIONATE LOVER. You love to love. You cannot live without it.
Your lover must be passionate and you want
that you and your partner melt into each other.
He/She should not try to take the domination.
You dont want a relationship without passion,
and the sexuality plays a big part. The first
moment you meet him/her is one of the most
important. There has to be something between
you , you cannot explain. From the first moment
on everything must fix. But when this passion
disappears you disappear too. For you it is
better to leave than to see your love
restrained.

test

got this off baa's blog..

Artistic
You are naturally born with a gift, whether it be
poetry, writing or song. You love beauty and
creativity, and usually are highly intelligent.
Others view you as mysterious and dreamy, yet
also bold since you hold firm in your beliefs.

so im an arty farty freak? heh.

I Do I Do

where's the 'hwee-ling'?

it's strange
that i didnt go in with much expectation
but came out disappointed.
ok i expected it to be normal
or half as good as I Not Stupid.
but it wasnt all that bad lah.

the touch-and-go thing --
raising the issues and not discussing them --
it's a bit too much.
always a debate whether it's good or bad,
but well at least the issues were recognised.

some of his techniques --
the raw playbacks, the penetrating music n all --
are so typical of him.
so much so
that the next time i watch another of his,
i might start to not realise their presence.

things that hit me:

dehumanisation effect of Mcdonaldisation.
i'd been lookin for examples in life
to substantiate this point in my essay last sem
and i realise it's oh-so-blatant n in-my-face.
i like the way he dramatises the issues,
and i refer to loretta's comment on Fires in the Mirror
"the playing out of the stereotypes-
does it reinforce stereotypes,
or force u to question them?"
the way he dramatises the issues
forces me to laugh at the comic effect
and start questioning why.
and simple things that we missed in everyday life
start wars in my little head.

and of course,
the new term put into my head by dr. wee,
and constantly reinforced by fir,
product placement.
so overdone in the movie
that it actually has this effect on me --
i start to wonder if it was intentional.
overdoing it becomes symbollic.
the penetration of advertisement within the movie,
the penetration of advertising in our lives.
so integrated into our lives
that we almost dont realise it anymore.
we see it blatant in the movie,
but do we see it in real life?
realisation hit me when dr wee said
that magazine and WB are from the same co.

stuff i learn in lectures n read or watch on tv
happen to be so very linked.
dr glam academic in the theatre scene
mentioned the arts censorhip
in the previous tutorial
n i watch it in the movie.

awareness, awareness, awareness.

oh hwee-ling, hwee-ling.

got faith?

got faith?

r u like me?
once believed that faith would set u free..
that life is aimless
and that maybe a faith (in whatever) would give me meaning
and set me free.

but i realised today
that maybe im leadin the free life already--
faith can bind.
faith, which i thought could set us free, can bind.

i was just talkin to a fren,
and i realised
that her thinking is bound
her mind is closed to ideas
and her heart believes in a certain truth
and she takes it as nothing but the truth.

and i contrast it with dr. mohanan's lect today -
"in university we learn how to think,
how to question,
and not believe that whatever u're told is true."

some people just take a certain truth
as the absolute truth.
even when offered scientific findings,
they choose to think human constructed these findings
and that truth remains the truth.

im glad im not closed to ideas
and im glad ive learnt to question.
to question everything i learn outside
and to question in the home.
both the external and internal.

i may be the ultimate fool on earth
to not believe in that absolute truth
as so proclaimed.
but i wish for you my friends
that you'll open your mind to greater things.
Man discovers, spreads, and believes.
ah, Man.

"Somebody thought of that, and someone believed it,
And look what it's done so far." -- Rainbow Connection

2.2.05

issues.

it's time to talk abta issues.
we'll start from the mildest.

issue 1. mrt etiquette

if u take the mrt,
u might have observed this before
and shook ur head so many times
that u suffered from a neckache the next day.
this morning,
i saw a school boy around 10years old
cutting the queue in front of the mrt door
pretending to see some niao poster.
it didnt really matter to me,
cos i was only going to take the train for one stop.
but when the train was coming to a halt,
the queue crinched.
pple almost had their faces pressed against the door
(from the inside, of cos)
but fortunately,
since it was Outram Park,
a fairly big number of passengers tried to alight.
the appalling thing came -
the boy squeezed his way thru the people
who were trying to come out.
it was highly disturbing.
he is only a primary school boy.
what will happen to him?
will he grow up with such values?
or will he change?

a few hours ago
when i was coming home around 9 plus pm,
i sat comfortably on the corner seat
of a whole row of EMPTY seats.
across me,
another guy sat in the other corner
of another whole row of EMPTY seats.
the door of the cabin opened at the next stop,
and this lady, about 3rd to enter the cabin,
ran in.
and i really mean run.
not dash, but run.
run at the fastest speed u can
without having to make an E break to avoid the pole.
i looked up.
she spoke with an accent.
the accent that belonged to people
who have booming voices,
and whose whispers = our conversation volume.
get the drift?
anyway.
it was utterly disgusting.
cos there were EMPTY seats!!
and she had to RUN.
well, there were ppl behind her,
but she RAN.
i m so not exaggerating this time round.

issue 2. simplicity vs complexity

ive been so tired of thinking,
and ive tried, and am currently trying,
to not think too much.
take things at their surface level.
but it's just so hard.
wad do u do
when uve done something
and really made an effort to do it
and one word from someone -
and the most unexpected someone -
kills ur efforts?
wad if u talk to this someone so much
that u never thought she'd say things behind u
but the fact is she does?
im trying so hard not to think so
but she does.
and if i were to take it simply
that she did it,
that'd be it.
but im not thinkin so,
i gotta think in the complex manner
that she has her reasons
and things arent the way i think them
even though everything points so.

issue 3. rights

basic rights -
to close a bedroom door;
to open ur letter w/o eyes on it;
to write a diary w/o it being read;
to say what u wan w/o getting slapped.
it's improving,
but im suffocating.

issue 4. bias

against the issue or against the man?
sometimes we can try really hard
but when a bias is present
it's really difficult.
this has been proven in world issues
and i shall not elaborate further.
but small issues like the most basic form of bias
can make such a big difference.
but one thing's for sure -
people give to people.
(too lazy to quote the author)

there are lots more issues on my mind
right this minute.
but im losing it -
cant articulate them properly.

my life's been busy
but not fulfilling.
i feel like a piece of crap,
wasting oxygen with every breath i take.

1.2.05

think simple. says:
U NEVER READ
think simple. says:
rahhh
E says:

E says:
I JUST READ LA U!!

cos i met eu early in the morning!

and she nicely printed out my saviour documents
n i yakked my way away at iras,
and according to baa's prediction,
i succeeded!

and eu drove us back to sch,
and then drove me to my wonderful low-fat lunch.
